Ernest Joseph King (23 November 1878 – 25 June 1956) was Commander in Chief, United States Fleet (COMINCH) and Chief of Naval Operations (CNO) during World War II. As COMINCH-CNO, he directed the United States Navy's operations, planning, and administration and was a member of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. The Ernest L. King residence, known as "Rockledge," was constructed in 1912 by architect George W. Maher. The house, built in Homer, Minnesota, near Winona, was designed in the Chicago Prairie School style. Rockledge was demolished in 1987. Historical information taken from the Unified Vision website.
